So, let's test this out..
Interviews:
- Interview 1
https://soundcloud.com/bdusape/kajuko-interview-1
Customer #1 liked the cooler aspect over the radio features of the product. He did remark that he would like to see a separate product line of KAJUKO that has a storage component which can also keep hot food items warm. Customer #1 also said that the device should have an expansive Bluetooth range so that consumers won't have to be close to the speakers for a karaoke performance.
- Interview 2
https://soundcloud.com/bdusape/kajuko-interview-2
Customer #2 suggest that an app should be created for the device. An app could be used as a remote and as a means to update song catalogs in the product. He also suggested that the screen on the product may hinder the karaoke experience. He said an HDMI port should be added to the product's design, so that friends and families can connect the machine to their home televisions.
- Interview 3
https://soundcloud.com/bdusape/kajuko-interview-3
Customer #3 found the product to be to potentially useful for the ideal college student. He believes the product like KAJUKO could be found in holiday gift catalogs for promotion. However, he agrees that the product should be sold through an online marketplace. Customer #3 believed the product's manufacturer should market the product to community centers and after-care programs for children.
- Interview 4
https://soundcloud.com/bdusape/kajuko-interview-4
Customer #4 brought up the importance of the product's battery life. He also suggested the electrical components should be tested for when the product comes in contact with liquids. Customer #4 said that the karaoke function should promoted as an "add-on" feature and that the product should feature an app where consumers could purchase music packages and playlists for the karaoke experience.
- Interview 5
https://soundcloud.com/bdusape/kajuko-interview-5
Customer #5 said he would invest in a KAJUKO if he was able to test the product out before purchasing. I asked him if he thought a free trial period, which would allow for consumers to order products and test them out for a week before purchasing, would help. He said it would help slightly. Customer #5 also said that many community centers would be in need of the product for children, seniors, and large activity spaces in general.
| Inside the boundary | Outside the boundary |
| Who is In - Schoolchildren, senior citizens, families | Who is Not - The product would probably not be for those who don't enjoy being in loud, social environments. |
| What the Need Is - To have a product that functions as a bluetooth jukebox device and as a cooler | What the Need Is Not - The need is not to have the product marketed as a "karaoke machine" but a bluetooth radio cooler that has an add-on feature. |
| Why the Need Exists - People want to be able to enjoy beverages, to able to enjoy their music while drinking their beverages, and to able to liven up their social events with a karaoke show. | Alternative Explanations - The product would sell most units for the holiday season and as gifts. |

Hey Brian, after listening to your interviews, I noticed that the customers that you talked to offered some pretty good ideas. I hadn't thought of the design considerations when the product comes into contact with liquids, as mentioned in interview 4. I think that it was a good idea to market your product as a bluetooth radio cooler that has an add-on feature rather than a karaoke machine in order to differentiate it.
ReplyDeleteHi Brian!
ReplyDeleteWow!
I see some pros and cons to this. As a person who loves coolers, or what is in the coolers, and who loves music, this is a great combo! I'm not super sure about the karaoke feature, but to each their own. It can be an add-on. I LOVE the idea of bluetooth speakers built into my cooler, but like the others, I would have questions about the durability. Would you make them waterproof? I would think that you would have to, seeing as how it's a cooler. I totally see this as a college and/or family thing. I don't know that school children or senior citizens would be interested as much as young families and college students. I have a school aged child and she would think this was totally cool, but I wouldn't buy it just for her. It would be a family use thing. Of course, I would put beer and juice boxes in it...not sure what senior citizens would put in it, Ensure maybe. :)
Regardless, you may be onto something. Keep up the good work and get all the feedback you can!

Brian, this is an awesome idea that I would definitely purchase were it to come in to being! I definitely believe there is a strong need for this in a college town. I think one of the challenges will be the marketing to differentiate this product as a completely new device that has an add on feature.
ReplyDeleteI really like how you had a drawing to show during the interviews. A picture can be far more effective at allowing someone to see your idea. You had good open ended questions. I agree with others in that I do not like the karaoke idea as much. Are there any other products like this on the market? Thanks.
ReplyDeleteHi, I think having your idea sell primarily as gifts is smart and an interesting choice. Do you think that this would be something someone would want to purchase for themselves? I think it's great, but I think that is an important factor to take into account. Free trial periods, as mentioned by your fifth interview, a free trial period is always successful so long as the product lives up, or even exceeds, expectations. I look forward to seeing how you pursue and develop this idea and I'm so glad your interviews seemed to be rather informative.
ReplyDeleteHi Brian,
ReplyDeleteThis is a pretty neat idea. Do you think the addition of the karaoke will make it a more attractive Bluetooth cooler than what is already on the market? I agree with Carolyn, I don’t know that I would buy this for a kid or elderly. I say you add a connection to the cooler to connect it to a tablet, to make karaoke possible in places where there is no tv, such as the beach. In addition, figuring out a way to install small solar panels would be pretty awesome. I know they make them for even small phone devices nowadays. You will likely need one to keep the party going all day. Or maybe just a backup battery.
Brian, something I would recommend is listening to your interviewees, they are full of ideas that can help you get in the right direction with what you are trying to do. I will recommend is looking into the technical final details your bluetooth-karaoke speaker will offer. One thing you need to be careful with is marketing your product, this can help or kill it. So find the appropriate demographic and method you want this product to be presented. Overall a neat idea and you are on a good track.
ReplyDeleteBrian,
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, I'm using my phone to publish this comment and the interviews will not load. However, I was able to view your drawing (which is quite impressive) and gain somewhat of an understanding of your product. I definitely would purchase the cooler because I really like all of the technological aspects and the warranty it comes with. Based on your written descriptions, I can tell that your interviewees were quite engaged at least when compared to my interviews. The product's target market is definitely teens and adults, but I don't think that will be an issue. But as previously mentioned, I believe the karaoke feature may be quite excessive. Overall, fantastic product!
Brian, this really sounds like an amazing idea that could be easily developed with a clear plan. You also picked some really could people to interview because they gave you some good advice on the design of the cooler/jukebox. I think you are on the right path to actually get this show on the road. I do not really have any advice for you but I would definitely take your interviewees advice.
ReplyDeleteHi Brian,
ReplyDeleteI think the interviews you did really helped the idea come to life. I think that the app that customer 2 suggested would really help to make the idea accessible to a wider market base as well as be a back up plan for someone who maybe doesn't have access to the machine. I think this is a great idea and I would want to see something like this on the market.
Brian.
ReplyDeleteGood job on the interviews. From listening to the interviews it sounds like you can take a lot of information you gathered and apply it to your idea. The idea itself is very realistic and could be reached by a large market. Great idea and keep up the good work.
Brian, I love the idea of your project and it definitely took a creative mind to come up with it. The interviews you got seemed to give you many great ideas that can help you develop multiple different aspects of your product. I really loved the application idea and agree that the bluetooth must have an extended range. I have a pair of bluetooth headphones that I can barely use because I have to be within 5 feet of my music device for them to work. I am not sure, however, if a trial period could be possible. It seems hard to make that work with an actual device that you have to purchase when compared to a service such as Apple Music.
